Why do these things always happen to me?

Some obscure company in Tampa, Florida, is claiming my domain name. I am under legal obligation not to discuss the details, but I can share the facts:

  • I have owned this domain since July 6th, 1999.
  • The company in question has only existed since mid summer, 2004.
  • I have not been given an opportunity to negotiate a fair market price for my domain.

Needless to say, my personal opinion is that I have not received fair treatment, and I am completely puzzled by the fact that the-company-in-question's claim wasn't thrown out of court the instance it was filed. This only goes to solidify my impression that money is all that counts, regardless of the issue at stake. Well, I better stop now, before I get myself into more trouble.

Why couldn't I just win the lottery for once, like some other people do?

Update:

Yes, you guessed it, it's April Fool's Day. There really isn't a company in Tampa called Greystork (that I know of), and I haven't received any court orders, lately.

I'm still quite offended that I can't seem to win the lottery, though.
